Protocol for diving the Graveyard at Lake Jocasse

Protocol for diving the Graveyard at Lake Jocasse

Thanks to Bruce for providing these details on diving at Lake Jocasse.

1. It is OK to actually moor your boat to the graveyard buoy. It is well secured to the bottom and is a very thick rope.
2. Always fly your diver down flag.
3. It is OK for more than one boat to moor at the same time. No one boat has sole rights to dive at any given time. Common courtesy is all that is expected. Obviously, when approaching the buoy while another boat is already moored, one must throttle down to less than idle speed and be aware that divers are down.
4. Obviously, ascending or exiting divers always have priority.
5. Keep in mind that much time has been invested in mapping, laying the lines for, and taking care of the graveyard for over 5 years.
